VISALAM APPAM CHATTI - also known as an appap pan or appam kadai, is a specialized cookware used primarily in South Indian cuisine, especially for making appam or hoppers. Appam is a type of pancake made from fermented rice batter and coconut milk, typically enjoyed with savory or sweet accompaniments.

 

Appam pans have a distinctive bowl-like shape with a shallow center and deeper edges. This shape helps in creating the characteristic crispy edges and soft, fluffy center of appams. The bottom of the pan is usually slightly concave, allowing the batter to spread out evenly and cook uniformly. This design helps in achieving the desired texture and shape of appams.

 

To use an appam pan, the batter is poured into the center of the pan and then swirled around to spread evenly towards the edges. The pan is then covered with a lid to allow the appams to cook gently until they are crisp around the edges and soft in the middle.

 

USES:

We can make perfect & smooth Appam with less oil.

Use wooden spatula for long lasting results.

Use Nylon Scrubber.

Don’t use metal forks, knives, whisks.

Avoid steel wool, scouring pads for cleaning.

Avoid heating empty pan.
